Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers - “Isn’t It a Lovely Day (to be Caught in the Rain)”
Sunday, 15 July, 2007
Behold, the only woman in the world to go horseback riding with taps on her boots.
Of course, you don’t see the riding part, just the bit where they sing and dance.
From the movie “Top Hat”.

Truly a classic moment in filmed dance. A and R work so well together…both in therms of the steps….but also emotionally so well together….it’s impossible to imagine any other pair doing to same steps, and having the same affect upon an audience. Just like music being more than the notes…so too dance is more than the steps. Roger Ebert says the handshake, at the ending….was unrehearsed, and the point in their partnership that Astaire fully understood what he had in his partner Ginger Rogers. These artists are still simply magic…and in fact, an imperishable artistic presence for humanity.
